The objective of this workshop is to identify various close reading strategies that can be immediately implemented in
a classroom K- 12.

This workshop will provide teachers with basic and intermediate skills for using SMART Notebook with a SMARTBoard. In addition to learning how to create a presentation from scratch you will learn how to access ready made presentations using the SMART Exchange and other available resources.

Discovery Education Science
Objective: To provide training to middle school science teachers (5-8) so they will become more proficient at using the various features of Discovery Education Science in their classes.
Learn what Discovery Education Science is all about! Become more familiar with this individualized student learning platform. Practice assigning content, creating assignments, and managing assessments. Walk away with actual lessons and activities that you can use with your students. It is also open up to science teachers K-8 who would like to learn about the Discovery Education Science resources. (Currently, only 5-8 has subscriptions to Discovery Education).

To learn apps and web-based tools to formatively assess students, organize class information and help students with organizing their work and assignments. Learn how to use google drive for many classroom and learning objectives. For
example, using it to organize and share information with other teachers working with the same group of students.

The Common Core Standards define academic vocabulary words as words that are traditionally used in academic dialogue and text. Specifically, it refers to words that are not necessarily common or that children would
encounter in conversation. This workshop will provide an overview of the difference between Tier
1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 words. It will also give specific classroom strategies for teachers to help increase academic vocabulary skills for their students. This workshop is appropriate for all

Sheltered Immersion Strategies for ELL students
This presentation will provide Sheltered English Immersion strategies for use by classroom teachers. An overview of the WIDA standards and ACCESS testing will be included, as well as descriptors for students at specific English Language levels.

Objectives:
This workshop's intended purpose is to learn a new tool that will organize an online lesson in an
easy to use format for both teacher & student. Also BlendSpace can be incorporated in many ways, by having your students work on assignments in your classroom or at home and either using an iPad or computer.

Objectives: To learn how to make QR codes, use them in the classroom, and share QR codes on documents and bulletin boards
In this age of digital devices, new ideas are becoming instrumental in the classroom. Using QR codes on worksheets takes the guessing game out of homework, makes planning easier and can be used in a wide variety of ways in the classroom. We will generate QR (Quick Response) codes, embed them on a document, and brainstorm ways to use them in your classroom. Intended audience: any grade/any subject Location: Nipmuc Computer Lab 235

Once you know how to use the app, you will quickly come up with ways to use it within your discipline, creating presentations that will engage your students and give you a break from the traditional whiteboard lecture.
