Online Modules: Mandated Training
Background on Mandated Training Requirements:
Mandated Training Modules in Teachpoint
Teachpoint has partnered with SafeSchools.com and Exceptional Child.com to provide online training modules that are accessible directly in Teachpoint and upon completion will note your acquired PDPs earned within your PD Tracking system.
To access - log into TeachPoint, click on the graduation cap icon (left side). You will see under the My Activities tab a list of online courses you are enrolled in. Choose the training you want to complete. You’ll have until October 17, 2022 to complete everything. You may log in and out multiple times to work through the training at your own pace. You will want to have headphones to listen to the modules.
One of the modules is listed as MURSD Policies. This course module was developed by the district so you have access to read through all of the policies that relate to the safe schools trainings. Please read the policies then check off that you have completed it. It will show that you have completed this when you have checked off that you read all of these policies. There is a box at the top of each policy change to check off for completion.
We are under a DESE Tiered Focus Monitoring Review currently and have been directed to add in some categories we have not included in mandated training. For the new modules, we will give you all until January 15th for completion. New modules include: Diversity Awareness: staff to student, Making schools safe and inclusive for LGBTQ students, students experiencing homelessness, and restraint training modules.
Feel free to take your time to go through the modules at your own pace. Additionally, some suggested health modules were added because they were available through safes schools and provide information that will help you in keeping yourself and others safe. In my own career I have seen a staff member and two students saved from choking because someone knew what to do when it happened. A note on the allergies module, it provides a general overview on common allergies. Please recognize that it is not in place of epipen training that is offered to those who are interested at each of the schools. The nurses will provide follow up information on the availability of epipen training.
- Annual training is mandated by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE)
- All employees are required to participate
- This training protects individuals and the district and ensures that all employees know their rights and responsibilities
- By offering the training through an online forum, it allows for educators to review the information at their own pace
- If you have questions about any information contained herein, please contact your building principal, Assistant Superintendent, Superintendent, or Director of Student Support Services
- This site will be open until October 17, 2022 to provide you with enough time to complete.

Not showing as complete: I completed the module all the way through in SafeSchools but it does not show as completed in Teachpoint.
First, make sure you are launching the module directly from Teachpoint each time. When you complete the module in SafeSchools it does not show up right away in Teachpoint as complete. Sometimes there is a lag time and you may need to refresh or log out of Teachpoint and then when you log back in it will show as completed in Teachpoint.

Professionals/ABA Techs: I am a paraprofessional/ABA Tech, do I need to complete the mandated training?
Yes, it is a requirement from DESE that all employees complete annual mandated trainings. If you need time during the school day to complete the trainings, this will be coordinated through getting coverage by your principals.

Duplicates: In Teachpoint it has duplicates of the course where I have completed one, but it has many in there that say enrolled or in progress of the same course I've taken.
Currently, there is a glitch where if you restart a course in SafeSchools more than once and/or take the quiz more than once, it creates duplicates of the info in your Teachpoint account. We are working with SafeSchools/Teachpoint to address this. Don't worry if there are duplicates as long as you end up completing it once and have it registering as completed in Teachpoint.

Do I need to print my certificates of completion in SafeSchools?
No, you do not need to print the certificates of completion. In the administrative side, it will show us that you completed SafeSchools (along with your log-ins/quiz results) and we also can view your completion in Teachpoint. We won't be checking for completion until after the October 17th deadline.
