The PD Committee wants to thank everyone who has submitted a proposal for our March 11 PD day. We are excited about the offerings. For access to all of the links for the PD day please go to http://mursdpd.weebly.com/march-11-2016.html.
There are a few questions about the format for the March 11 PD day which we would like to clarify. First the format for the day is a mixed style. As it is the teacher driven PD day, there are a variety of options so that the day is meaningful to you. For example, we encourage anyone who wishes to facilitate a session in Edcamp style. If you are interested in doing this, all you need to note on the proposal form that it is an Edcamp style facilitation (Unlike our September PD, we are requesting the Edcamp proposals in advance rather than on the March 11 to facilitate logistical planning.) ]An alternative presentation might be a workshop format with a presentation on a topic of interest to you and your colleagues. You may wish to work on a collaborative project or an individual project. ]Professional trainers are facilitating sessions based upon teacher requests such as inclusion practices, science standards, etc. Due to the snow days, we are extending the deadline for the submission of proposals for our March 11 PD day to the close of school on Tuesday, February 23rd. If you want to review the offerings already listed in the draft schedule, please refer to Step 3 on the website. After the proposals have been submitted, a final schedule for the day will be created. You will receive an email from the committee alerting you as to when registration is open.

The Mendon-Upton Regional School District we offer a full-day professional development day in March each year which is teacher-driven. We strive to provide a venue for learning on our teacher-driven professional development days where teachers have a voice and a choice in their learning opportunities. We also strive to align our professional development to our district strategic plan to foster innovative practices and create a culture of continuous improvement. We have found from our own evaluations and research concurs that:
For March 2016, we will be combining these two models to provide a variety of session options and to also expand our PD beyond our own district's walls and invite participants from other districts. Our goal...to foster inspiration, creativity, collaboration, and innovation to be able to be applied immediately in the classroom. INSPIRE' 16 |
