Bringing together our learning on MTSS and Tier 1 inclusive practices
For the first time since August, we are thrilled to bring all educators back together for our next MURSD full-day PD Day! Friday will be a day of sharing, learning, strategizing, and enjoying each other's company. It will begin at 8:00 at the Nipmuc Auditorium (Coffee and breakfast treats available at 7:30 a.m.). Coming back together this year to share the Tier 1 inclusive practices that best help us understand, support and engage all students, and collaborating in vertical teams has been a vision of the PD Committee since the beginning of the year. As such we have organized the day into 2 main parts: An Ed Camp focused on sharing impactful Tier 1 practices in the a.m., and Vertical Team Strategizing that will happen in the afternoon. The day will also be structured to emphasize educator agency and wellness. We hope you like the thoughtful planning that went into this day to crystalize our learning as we think about what's next and how we come together as a community that puts each other first.
MURSD Ed Camp During the morning we have organized an Ed Camp that all of us will participate in. For those who have never participated in an Ed Camp, during this time we will organize sessions on topics based on educators' interests. Each person can choose to attend whatever sessions they want. Instead of having a presenter, each session will evolve organically allowing educators to share what they know and are curious about the topic, and enabling educators to learn from each other. If you'd like to see more about how an Ed Camp works, see this quick video. Based on your feedback from last month we have identified some of the sessions and will populate the rest of the "Digital Ed Camp Board" on Friday. Bring your ideas - No need to sign up in advance or to prepare - you just go to whatever session you want.
Vertical Team Strategizing In the afternoon we will break up into vertical teams to discuss the skills and the practices we would like to see grow from year to year in the MURSD. Having this day is perfect for this kind of teaming, since it enables educators from different schools to work together. We will provide a scaffold for teams to use to identify the most important skills they'd like to discuss together, and to strategize how to develop these skills from grade to grade while sharing best practices to do that. During this vertical teaming time, ABAs and Paraprofessionals will participate in some targeted workshops to support them in their roles.
ABAs will meet in Room (TBA)
Paraprofessionals will meet in the PDC for a workshop on de-escalation offered by Lindsey Minder.
Lunch, wellness and fun! We'll provide lunch on Friday (please contact Alyssa Lacasse if you have dietary restrictions), and during that time we have organized some activities and opportunities for you to attend to your own wellness and have a little fun. So wear your comfy clothes and footwear. We've organized a walk in the woods (bring your boots), and volleyball and corn hole in the gym (bring your sneakers). We'll also have a room set up with an art project, another offering online meditation, another with a session on eating healthy. Laurie Petti will be over to answer your HR questions and Alyssa Lacasse can help you with TeachPoint.
Here is how the day will look
Registration on TeachPoint For this day, instead of registering for sessions or vertical teams, we will have one registration for the whole day. As usual, you will use TeachPoint to register the workshop you will attend. TeachPoint will be up and ready for registration at the end of the day on March 10th. We ask that you register before noon on March 16th.
On March 17th, as always you will need to sign-in to the PD in Teach Point. The sign in code for the PD sessions will be 03/17/23. Here is a link to the sign-in instructions. If you run into trouble, Alyssa has devised a troubleshooting document that may be helpful. Please send any additional questions to Alyssa Lacasse - [email protected]
